Enjoy Wet and Wild Family Fun at Splashes Oceanfront Water Park
You know summer has really arrived when you can hear the squeals of delight coming from Splashes, Family Kingdom’s oceanfront water park. Get ready to hear those splashy sounds of fun, as Splashes opens May 25 and stays open through Sept. 1.
Splashes is Myrtle Beach’s only oceanfront water park, offering gorgeous ocean views along with some of the best water rides on the Grand Strand. The park serves up an array of fun for the whole family, from the swim-diaper clad toddlers to the big kids we sometimes call grown-ups.
If you’re looking for a mellow, relaxing way to stay cool and enjoy the South Carolina sunshine, try the lazy river, which meanders through the park for more than 400 feet of languid leisure—just don’t forget the sunscreen!
Now, if you’re interested in a little bit more get-up-and-go, you can also try out the intermediate speed slides, those slick tubes of wet fun that lead to a splashdown that makes even the most straight-faced swimmers giggle. And for some big thrills, try the speed slides! These drop down for an intense, fast ride, splaying water as you go—talk about a thrill! Another option is the water flumes, which feature a more than 100-foot drop.
And the best part about Splashes (and the Family Kingdom amusement park) is that it’s only about a mile from Holiday Inn at the Pavilion! Admission is free at the water park, but in order to ride you’ll need a wristband, which costs $18.95-$20.95 depending on height. And if you’re interested in the amusement park side of Family Kingdom, check out the Family Kingdom website for pricing on dual park bands. There’s also information about hours, height requirements for rides, birthday parties and group pricing.
So next time you visit Holiday Inn at the Pavilion, remember there are plenty of ways to cool off at the beach!
