Family Fun at The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

The Myrtle Beach boardwalk is a popular destination for visitors to the Myrtle Beach area. Conveniently located within walking distance from the Holiday Inn Pavilion, this newly renovated oceanfront boardwalk spans almost a mile in length and offers something for everyone. Lined with local shops, restaurants, and attractions, the boardwalk is perfect for a leisurely evening stroll or for an afternoon full of fun!

The first thing that you will undoubtedly notice on your venture to the boardwalk is the famous Myrtle Beach SkyWheel. This ferris wheel-esque ride features 42 climate controlled gondolas that soar over 20 stories into the air, providing unbeatable views of the Atlantic and Myrtle Beach. Sit back and relax in the comfy seats as the ride takes you on several revolutions. If you aren’t a fan of heights, the SkyWheel can still be enjoyed from the ground as this ride is covered in over one million brilliant LED lights that put on a show for all to see every night at dusk.

Continue to the other end of the boardwalk and take a stroll along the second avenue pier. An area staple for over 75 years, this popular pier extends almost 1000 feet into the Atlantic. You can enter the pier for only $1 and enjoy a stroll or spend the day fishing. Feel free to bring your own gear or check out the bait & tackle shop for daily rentals. Depending on what time of year it is, you can catch everything from seasonal trout and flounder to grouper and perhaps even an unsuspecting baby shark! There is also an open air bar at the end of the pier where visitors can grab a drink and hear live music while they enjoy the views. A walk down the pier is something that everyone needs to experience at least once during their trip to Myrtle Beach.

There are several restaurants in the downtown area so you won’t have to look far for a place to refuel. The Landshark Bar & Grill is located right next to the SkyWheel and offers an array of fun, beach themed options. Grub on everything from fresh oysters and signature burgers to specialty hot dogs and sandwiches. They also offer a diverse drink menu full of fun, fruity concoctions and ice cold beers. If you are craving fresh seafood, head over to the Pier House Restaurant, located at the end of the Second Avenue Pier. This restaurant offers spectacular ocean views and a variety of seafood preparations that are sure to please your palette. Other, more casual food vendors can also be found up and down the boardwalk area.
