Check Out Family Kingdom for Family Fun!
There’s a reason so many families choose Myrtle Beach for their family vacations: Kids simply love it here. And when we say that, we’re including the grown-ups who are still kids on the inside!
Family Kingdom, which is located just a mile from Holiday Inn at the Pavilion, is a great place to go and set your inner child free for the day.
Not sure where to start? Try the Twist n’ Shout steel roller coaster—it’s one of the latest additions to the amusement park side of Family Kingdom, and throwing your hands in the air and screaming while you fly through the air on a wild roller coaster is one of the best ways to wake up that sleeping kid inside. But that’s just a start—there are more than 30 rides to choose from, including the Swamp Fox wooden roller coaster, the sling shot for a truly hair-raising ride and a splash-inducing log flume ride.
But if thrill rides aren’t your cup of tea, don’t worry. There are family-friendly rides for the terror-averse, as well as kiddie rides for those who aren’t yet big enough to ride the big rides. Kids love the 4 X 4 Big Trucks, the Kiddie wheel, and the mini bumper cars! And if Go Karts are your thing, Family Kingdom has a couple of options—you can enjoy an oval track or a figure-8, which allows those 18 years and older to take riders along.
Family Kingdom ride passes can be purchased by the ticket, unlimited by the day, or in a combo pass with Family Kingdom’s water park. There’s no admission fee unless you want to ride, so any members of the family who aren’t into the rides can still come and enjoy watching the kids—young and old—enjoy themselves.

Holiday Inn Neighborhood Attractions: 2nd Avenue Pier
One of the reasons our guests come back to the Myrtle Beach Holiday Inn at the Pavilion year after year is the great location. We’re right on the ocean and in the heart of Myrtle Beach, just a stone’s throw from many of the best attractions at the beach.
One of those great attractions is the Myrtle Beach 2nd Avenue Pier, which is located just about a mile down the beach from Holiday Inn at the Pavilion—you could even walk there, just stroll south along the beach or the Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade—you can’t miss it.
Originally built in 1936, the Pier at 2nd Avenue is a true Myrtle Beach landmark. It’s a great place to walk and enjoy the fresh sea air and gorgeous scenery or even to just watch people fishing!
If you enjoy fishing, the pier is a great place to do so. You can reel in a wide array of fish, from flounder and mackerel to winter trout and sea bass, depending on the time of year. You don’t need to bring your fishing gear, the pier bait shop will rent or sell everything you need - hook, line and sinker.
A daily fishing pass starts at $9, and rental packages start at $25 with a $10 deposit. You don’t need a fishing license; the pier pass keeps you covered. Be sure to show up early, as the early fisherman (and fisherwoman!) gets the fish!
Of course, you can enjoy a great meal at 2nd Avenue Pier even if you don’t catch your own. The Pier House Restaurant is a fantastic place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with amazing, panoramic views. There’s also an open air bar where you can sit back and sip on a drink and enjoy the fresh ocean air!
So next time you visit Holiday Inn at the Pavilion, give this piece of Myrtle Beach history a visit, just like our visitors have for 75 years!
