Top Myrtle Beach Events: August Edition
August is quickly approaching and the end of summer season is near. Many visitors are squeezing in a last trip before the hustle and bustle of the school year roll around and we promise that there will be no shortage of fun, family friendly events for you to enjoy during your last-minute beach getaway. Check out some of the top local events taking place in August:
“Dive In” Movies at Myrtle Waves
Take a break from the heat and cool off with a “dive in” movie at Myrtle Waves Water Park! This weekly event takes place each Wednesday at the water park. Guests are invited to come in at 4pm to enjoy a little wet n’ wild fun before the feature presentation begins at 9pm. There will be a different movie shown on a large outdoor screen each week. Selections for August include The Smurfs and Space Jam – to name a few. Admission to this event is only $11.99 / guest and only a buck more if you want to enjoy popcorn during the movie. Surfside Beach Luau – August 11th
Head south to the charming city of Surfside Beach on Monday, August 11th to enjoy a free beach luau! This event runs from 6pm – 10pm and is fun for the whole family. There will be live seaside entertainment, plenty of snacks and beverages, and even a kid's play area with games, face painting, and much more. Beach, Boogie, & BBQ Fest – August 29th – August 30th
This annual festival is finger licking fun for the whole family! Rally your clan and head to Market Common on August 29th or 30th to participate in the southeast’s most exciting BBQ competition. This fierce competition offers over $13,000 in cash prizes so the competition is stiff. Guests who attend can sample their fair share of wings, slow smoked meats, fall-off-the-bone tender ribs, and succulent sauces from across the nation. There will also be live entertainment, cornhole competitions, games and a kid's play area, and a beer garden for the adults. This event goes from 6pm – 10pm on Friday and from 12pm – 10pm on Saturday.
