Nothing says “vacation time” quite like indulging in a decadent burger, grilled to juicy perfection (especially after a day on the beach). Though many resorts in the area do not offer on-site grill facilities, there are still plenty of ways to get your fix of this summer classic. Skip the usual fast food joints, you can get that anywhere! Instead, try out one of the signature Myrtle Beach spots that are a favorite among visitors and locals alike. Check out our roundup of the best burgers in Myrtle Beach:

Burkey’s Grill

So yes, we did tell you to skip the fast food joints…but Burkey’s is an exception. There’s nothing usual about this burger joint that has been a Myrtle Beach staple for years. Locals will tell you; you aren’t a true Myrtle Beach resident until you’ve dined at Burkey’s. You’ll feel like you’re going back in time to a 1950’s diner. Their burgers are great and you can’t leave without getting some ice cream for dessert! Burkey’s Grill is open Monday through Satuday from 10:30am – 9pm and Sunday from 10:30am – 8:00pm. Check out their menu here!

Carolina Roadhouse

Located a few miles north of us, Carolina Roadhouse might be known for their delicious bread…but have you tried their burgers? These 10oz burgers will definitely leave you anything but hungry, and if you’re up for trying something new The Monster Burger is on another level (think chili hot dog and back yard burger combined). The great thing about this restaurant is that if anyone in your party is not in the mood for a burger, there are plenty of other delicious options to try! Carolina Roadhouse is open Sunday through Thursday from 11am-10pm and Friday and Saturday from 11am – 11pm. Call 843-497-9911 for more information or visit their website to view the menu.

Wicked Tuna

Wicked Tuna’s new 2nd Avenue Pier location recently opened and it has not disappointed! This Grill and Sushi Bar might be known for its fresh catch and extravagant rolls, but their Prime Ground Burger is a showstopper as well. It is 8oz. of USDA prime ground filet and ribeye and while everyone is different, we highly recommend adding bacon. Wicked Tuna is open 7 days a week from 11am-10pm. Visit their website to make reservations!

Art Burger Sushi Bar

A more recent addition to the downtown Myrtle Beach restaurant lineup, ART Burger Sushi Bar has quickly become a favorite among visitors and locals alike. Aside from the ideal oceanfront location along the bustling Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, ART Burger features a wide array of eclectic, high-quality burgers, all of which are hand-made to order. To stick with the theme, each burger is named after a famous artist, like the “Rockwell All-American”, which is a traditional cheeseburger with toppings, or the “Remington”, which offers house BBQ sauce, crispy fried onions, and smoked cheddar. Be sure to snag a side of their famous mac and cheese on the side! Call (843) 839-4774 for more information. They are open Sunday-Thursday from 12pm-9pm and Friday-Saturday from 12pm-10pm.

Hamburger Joe’s

Hamburger Joe’s is a true dive joint and the locals wouldn’t have it any other way! This locally owned and operated burger shack has had guests flocking in for over 20 years and they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Their menu is simple, as it should be, and includes a few variations of their famous burgers. Enjoy a hamburger or cheeseburger plain or “all the way” with house slaw, chili, and sautéed onions. The patties are made fresh daily and cooked diner style on a flattop grill, giving them plenty of flavor. Hamburger Joe’s is definitely a top pick among locals for the best burger at the beach! They are open 7 days a week from 10:30am-10:00pm. Call (843) 215-9052 for more information.

River City Café

River City Café is the ideal place to go if you are in the mood to try a truly unique burger concoction. Try new textures with adventurous picks like the “Nacho Crunch Burger”, topped with guacamole, jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, Doritos, and spicy chipotle mayo, or the “Texas BBQ Burger”, topped with hickory bacon, bourbon BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar, and crispy onion straws. If your palette is a little more daring, try the “Fried Mac & Cheese Burger” which, as the name suggests, is topped with a generous loaf of fried mac & cheese or the “Peanut Butter Burger”, generously smothered with creamy peanut butter. With over 25 signature burgers, you are sure to find plenty to please even the pickiest eater. Call (843) 448-1990 for the location nearest Holiday Inn Resort.

This Broadway at the Beach restaurant is a huge hit with visitors seeking a fast and fresh burger. Located in the Celebrity Square area of the popular venue, Wahlburgers serves up generous 1/3 pound and 1/2 pound burgers topped with fresh, local ingredients, like their famous housemade pickles. Stick to the classic house burger for something simple and satisfying, or branch out and try one of Wahlburgers signature creations, like “The Beast”, which boasts two 5oz burger patties, lettuce, tomato, pulled pork, housemade blue cheese sauce, pickles, and BBQ sauce. Or, create your own concoction by exploring the DIY burger route with the full slew of mouthwatering burger toppings. Wahlburgers is also unique in that you can order at the counter and have your food delivered or you can opt for a server. Wahlburgers is open Sunday-Thursday from 11am-10pm and Friday-Saturday from 11am-12am. Call (843) 213-1254 for more information.

Peaches Corner

Peaches Corner has been an area staple for over 75 years and has become an annual tradition for many. Their location along the bustling Myrtle Beach boardwalk has become a landmark and has been family owned and operated ever since inception in the 1930’s. Their signature diner style burger recipe has stood the test of time and is an absolute “must” if you venture downtown. Try one of their signature concoctions like the “Quesadilla Burger” which is actually a burger topped with lettuce and cheddar cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla, then lightly grilled and served with salsa and sour cream; or, try the “Frank-n-Burger” which is topped with chili, cheese, onions, mustard, and a split hot dog. Peaches most popular offering is their classic burger, which comes with two patties and a generous slab of cheese. Peaches is open Monday through Friday from 11am-10pm and Saturday through Sunday from 12pm-11pm. Call (843) 448-7424 for more information.

Planning a Myrtle Beach vacation can be stressful, particularly when it comes to sticking to a budget. Accommodations, dining expenses, entertainment… how can you fit it all in? Well, Holiday Inn Oceanfront is here to help! Here are our top tips on how to save on a Myrtle Beach vacation:

Change Your Travel Dates

A Fourth of July or Labor Day vacation might be convenient but can quickly escalate into a costly endeavor. Why not consider changing your travel dates? The spring and fall are still great times to visit the beach and guests who choose to come fishing on the beach in myrtle beachoutside of prime summer booking season often save hundreds. Hotel prices are driven by demand and demand is significantly higher Memorial Day – Labor Day. To save big, plan a beach getaway outside of those dates.

Book in Advance

This is a biggie – book in advance! It’s no secret that prices go up as inventory goes down. If you know you are going to come to Myrtle Beach, consider planning the vacation in advance and revealing it as a Christmas surprise. Even if you can’t plan that far in advance, definitely book your room as soon as possible to get the best available rates.

Take Advantage of Resort Deals

Area resorts, including Holiday Inn Oceanfront, often offer lucrative seasonal deals to help you save big. Specials range throughout the year and can include a percentage off regular rates, “buy 3, get one free” or “buy 5, get 2 free” night specials, or free breakfast deals. Be sure to check our hotel specials page to see how much you can save!

Prepare Meals in Your Room

Dinging out during your stay can quickly add up. Avoid these unnecessary costs by switching out your restaurant splurges with easy in-room meals. Holiday Inn Oceanfront offers several room types that include a full in-room kitchen that makes meal time a breeze! Kitchens include a full refrigerator, making it easy to store food for a long trip, an oven / stove, microwave, coffeemaker, and all of the plates, dishes, and utensils you could need. You can still eat out a few times during the trip, but greatly reducing the amount of times you eat out will make a huge impact on the budget.

Travel With Family or Friends

If you are a couple or small family and don’t mind traveling with a crowd, consider cutting even more costs by taking a vacation with another group of family or friends! Holiday Inn offers several rooms that are large enough for 6 – 8 guests, family playing on the beachmaking it easy to split a room. Even if you don’t want to share a room, traveling with others does reduce the costs in other areas and is definitely something to consider if you have close family or friends who also love the beach.

Skip The Oceanfront View

Sure, an oceanfront room provides fantastic view of the beach – no one is going to dispute that. However, opting for an oceanview room as opposed to an oceanfront room could save you big in the long run. Though prices vary, the difference could be $20 – $30 a night. That might not sound like a lot at first, but when you multiple that by several nights it could be the difference in several hundred dollars. And, oceanview rooms still provide scenic views and a private balcony, so you will still get Atlantic views and outdoor space.
