Which Myrtle Beach Hotel Room is Right For Me?

Take a look at our east breakdown to find the ideal spot for you and your family to kick back and relax after a busy day at the beach.

Couples / Small Families Oceanfront Room at Myrtle Beach Holiday Inn

Are you a “snowbird” couple coming down for the winter or a couple coming to enjoy a romantic summertime getaway? If so, the Oceanfront King Efficiency is the perfect, cozy nook to settle into. This efficiency room offers a spacious king sized bed and an ideal oceanfront location complete with a private balcony. The King Oceanfront Efficiency also offers a full kitchen, ideal for longer stays or for saving on dining expenses.

Couples looking for a little extra elbow room and small families alike will surely enjoy options like the Tower King Oceanfront Suite, which boasts a private bedroom furnished with a king sized bed and an additional double Murphy bed for extra sleep space. Additionally, this option also offers a full kitchen for easy meal time prep.

Groups / Large Families

Traveling to Myrtle Beach with a large group or family? If so, enjoy all of the space and comforts of home in the Tower Oceanfront Suite which can comfortably accommodate up to seven guests. This suite offers a large private bedroom with two double sized beds in addition to a spacious shared living area furnished with a double Murphy bed and a pull-out couch. This tower suite also offers a full kitchen area and a private oceanfront balcony.

Budget-Friendly Accommodations

Are you on a tight budget but still want to enjoy the perks of an oceanfront Myrtle Beach resort? If so, opt for one of the Holiday Inn’s “oceanview” accommodations. These units still offer great views of the Atlantic so you aren’t sacrificing much but will end up saving big, particularly on longer stays.

Options include the Lowrise Oceanview Room, which offers two queen sized beds and sleeps five and the Lowrise Oceanfront Efficiency, which offers the same sleep space as the room but with the added bonus of a full in-room kitchen.

These oceanview options still include all of the comforts of home, access to all of the generous amenities, and still offer a private oceanview balcony; the main difference is that these rooms are not situated oceanfront and are therefore priced a little less than their oceanfront comparisons.

Bonus: The Holiday Inn Oceanfront is one of the only Myrtle Beach resorts to offer free breakfast items daily to all guests, helping you save even more on your Myrtle Beach vacation!

Thought Myrtle Beach has long been associated with family friendly activities, did you know that our sandy shoreline is also home to a wide array of exciting thrill rides? Get your heart racing at one of these exhilarating attractions – if you dare:

Sling Shot

The human “sling shot” is located in the downtown area and is hard to miss! This ride takes riders two at a time and guests lie on their backs facing the sky. Suddenly, guests are thrust over 300 feet into the air at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. Talk about a rush! Guests then bob back and forth a few times before being lowered back onto the ground. With a little work, partners can even get the circular capsule that they are seated in to spin through the air at descent. The ride is equipped with an on-board camera that catches all the action so guests can see their reactions and even take home a video for later viewing.

Swamp Fox Coaster at Family Kingdom

The Swamp Fox coaster at Family Kingdom Amusement Park has been an area staple for almost 50 years and keeps guests flocking back year after year. This wooden coaster boasts an impressive 2,400 feet of track and takes guests on a thrilling trip full of unexpected twists and turns. Guests will also be treated to breathtaking views of the Atlantic at the top of the ride – but don’t get too distracted! If you aren’t paying attention one of the plummets or turns might take you by surprise!

Myrtle Beach SkyWheel

The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is a more recent addition to the bustling boardwalk and has quickly become a part of many guests’ annual vacation itinerary. This ferris-wheel-esque ride stands at 190-feet tall and boasts being the largest ride of its type east of the Mississippi River. The SkyWheel offers 40 climate controlled gondolas that take guests soaring into the air, providing endless vistas of the Atlantic and the coastline. And, at almost 200 feet into the air, you can rest assured that this ride will get your heart racing! Each gondola can hold up to sex guests, making this a great option for families.

Turbo Twisters at Myrtle Waves

The Turbo Twisters at Myrtle Waves Water Park aren’t for the faint of heart. These enclosed tube slides climb 10 stores into the air and are among the tallest tube slides in the world. Once at the top of the tower, guests take the long journey downward throughout the spiraling enclosure at speeds of up to 50 feet per second! The slides whip and wind downward but the darkness makes it impossible to anticipate what is coming up next. Once at the bottom, guests are thrown down a long, narrow stretch of pool and the ride finally comes to an end. Thrill seekers will definitely want to try this exhilarating slide more than once!

Have you ever wanted to fly? If so, make this dream a reality by booking a parasailing trip! This unique water sport has been in the area since the early 1980’s and is an absolute “must” if you enjoy wet n’ wild fun. Guests can enjoy a sole adventure or ride in sets of two or three. Riders are strapped into seats attached to a parachute and then wait at the end of the boat until they reach the perfect stretch of ocean. Then, the captain accelerates quickly and the riders take flight! Guests can choose to stay dry during flight or get dipped for even more frills. Parasailing is a great family activity and is fun for guests of all ages.

The Grand Strand holds a unique place in Barbecue Belt.

The north end stretches into North Carolina, where vinegar-based sauce is the law. The south end dips into the South Carolina Lowcountry, where mustard-based sauce is king. And in between resides a mix of transplants and visitors who bring their own BBQ taste buds to the party.

The good news is you can get your fix no matter which BBQ church you happen to worship. The one common theme is slow-cooked pork over hickory coals, pulled and sometimes chopped, and served with all the fixins’. Here are the top five spots to cure your BBQ jones:

* Little Pigs: This Myrtle Beach institution is hidden in a strip mall just off Higheay 17 Bypass, but lovers of authentic North Carolina BBQ can find it by following their noses. The Huggins family uses only whole pork shoulders that are smoked on-site and served with a wide variety of side items. The hushpuppies are worth the trip.

* Prosser’s Bar-B-Q: This family-owned and operated eatery has been serving South Carolina-style barbecue and country cooking since 1953. Originally opened in nearby Hemingway, which is considered a BBQ capital of S.C., Prosser’s brought their own version of pulled pork to the coast, along with some great rib-sticking comfort food.

* Hog Heaven BBQ: Serving South Carolina barbecue at a tucked-away shack just north of Georgetown, folks don’t mind the extra drive to find a place in Hog Heaven. True to its Lowcountry roots, Hog Heaven also offers smoked seafood, including an oyster roast, and home-style vegetables. Just get the buffet and try it all.

* Sticky Fingers: This Charleston-based regional chain offers the widest variety of sauces for any and all tastes. Offering smoked baby-back ribs, pulled pork and BBQ chicken, Sticky Fingers allows the customer to choose from its five different sauces, including Memphis Sweet, Tennessee Whiskey and Carolina Mustard.

* Big KT’s BBQ: Either a great little BBQ joint with cold beer or a great little beer joint with excellent BBQ, Big KT’s successfully pulls off both. Serving North Carolina, vinegar-based BBQ and ribs, this North Myrtle Beach hangout also scores points for its sides, such as Brunswick stew and Tomato Pie.
