From our beautiful beach to our local events, there are plenty of ways to keep you and your family entertained without breaking the bank! Here’s a list of our favorite free things to do in Myrtle Beach!

Myrtle Beach Parks

Another activity to cross off your vacation bucket list is to visit the free Myrtle Beach parks located along the Grand Strand. Have a family picnic and take your kids to the playground at Valor Park. Venture down to Murrells Inlet and experience the historic fishing village accompanied by great food, and live music.  Or maybe you want to hit the trails at Vereen Memorial Historical Garden on their 3-mile long nature boardwalk.

Myrtle Beach Museums

Save money on attractions by attending the free Myrtle Beach museums available to the public.  Dive in headfirst and explore the rich history of the Simeon B. Chapman Art Museum. With its continuous exhibits and educational/interactive programs, the Simeon Art Museum is a great spot for everyone in the family to enjoy. Or visit the South Carolina Hall of Fame and learn about the numerous inductees that range from artists, war heroes, community figures and much more.  Learn something new at Myrtle Beach Museums for free.

Myrtle Beach Shopping

Escape the beach and step into one of Myrtle Beach’s shopping complexes to indulge yourself with something new, or maybe pick up something for someone else. Stroll around Market Common and enjoy live music, festivals, and complimentary carriage rides (December only). Visit Barefoot Landing, a recreated fishing village that offers festivals, events, and massive firework displays throughout the year. And the must-see Broadway at the Beach, a 360-acre outdoor entertainment and shopping complex that has everything a tourist could ask for.

Myrtle Beach Festivals

Enjoy one of Myrtle Beach’s free annual festivals such as Beach, Boogie, & BBQ, Blue Crab Festival, Beach Blast, Mayfest on Main, and Canadian-American Days Festival. All of the festivals are seasonal, so check ahead and see any; fall, spring, or summer festivals are happening during your stay. No matter what time of year you venture to Myrtle Beach, you will never run into a shortage of local events. Just ask your reservation specialist for more information about what is going on in the area during your stay.

Live Music

There are plenty of places for you to enjoy live music in the Myrtle Beach area. During the summer months, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk hosts bands on the weekends that vary from country to rock and everything in between. The Garden City Pier also hosts live music during the summer months. If you are on the south end, check out the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, a half-mile stretch of oceanfront boardwalk that connects several area restaurants. The MarshWalk is known for its fun, casual atmosphere and live music throughout the week.

Beach Activities

Of course- you cannot forget the beach! The beach is the main draw of the area and Myrtle Beach boasts miles of pristine coastline. Holiday Inn Pavilion enjoys a convenient oceanfront location, so you won’t have to go very far to get your toes in the sand. The possibilities are endless! And the best part is – it’s totally free! Enjoy basking in the sun, wrestling with waves, building sandcastles, collecting shells, and playing beach games like bocce ball or corn hole.
