Restaurants, shops and bars are scattered along the 1.2-mile wooden boardwalk that winds beside the coast from 1st Ave N to 16th Ave N. In addition to many permanent attractions, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk hosts hundreds of events throughout the year, including an oceanfront ice skating rink and a nationally-renowned country music festival.

Christmas & New Year’s Eve On The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

If you plan to visit Myrtle Beach for the 2021-2022 holiday season, we’ve found the most festive events taking place during your stay. Here are the must-attend Myrtle Beach Boardwalk events scheduled for Christmas and New Year’s Eve – all of which are within walking distance of our Boardwalk hotel!

1| Winter Wonderland at the Beach | Pavilion Place | Nov. 26th – Jan. 2nd 

The city of Myrtle Beach is proud to announce the first-ever Winter Wonderland at the Beach event. Located at the Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place between 8th & 9th Ave N, the inaugural event features an oceanfront ice skating rink, walk-through lights display and dazzling decorations. After you enjoy some time on the ice and take a stroll through the holiday lights display, head down the Boardwalk to enjoy live music, sparkling decor and holiday specials at local businesses. The Boardwalk is filled with Christmas cheer from one end to the other.

  • Lights Show: $5 for kids, $7 for adults
  • Ice Skating: $15 without skate rentals, $20 with skate rentals

2| Myrtle Beach Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration | Plyler Park | Dec. 7th

Join the local community on Dec. 7th at 5:30 p.m. for the lighting of the Christmas tree in Plyler Park. The event will include live entertainment, children’s activities and a special visit from Santa. Following the tree lighting celebration, families are invited to visit Plyler Park each Friday and Saturday in December. From 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., guests can have their picture taken with Santa, enjoy live entertainment and participate in family-friendly activities. All of the events hosted in Plyler Park this Christmas season are free.

3| NYE Extravaganza | Banditos Cantina | Dec. 31st

Banditos Cantina, located on the second floor of THEBlvd entertainment complex, will host their annual NYE Extravaganza. Ring in 2022 with delectable bites, stellar drink specials and live entertainment. Lane Ward will be performing from 9:00 – 11:00 p.m. Then 87 & Pine will take the stage from 11:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. The party will also include party favors, a champagne toast at midnight and the best view of the Atlantic this New Year’s Eve. 4| Funky New Year At The Boardwalk | Plyler Park | Dec. 31st

Boogie the year away at the Boardwalk’s New Year’s Eve celebration. Plyler Park will host local band Funkasaurus as they play classic disco tunes from 10:00 p.m. to midnight. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. and features activities for the whole family to enjoy. You don’t want to miss this Funky New Year’s Eve celebration on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.

5| New Year’s Eve Party | RipTydz Oceanfront Grille & Rooftop Bar | Dec. 31st

Located next door to Holiday Inn at the Pavilion, RipTydz will host a fun-filled NYE party, waving goodbye to 2021 and welcoming 2022 with open arms. The party will include an extensive dinner buffet, a special drink package, live music and a DJ, fire breathers and dancers, a photo booth and caricature artists. Both levels of the 17,000-square-feet oceanfront grille and rooftop bar will be filled with celebrations. Walk-ins are welcome for the party, but RipTydz recommends that you purchase your tickets in advance. Festivities are from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

6| Dressed Up To Get Down | Tin Roof | Dec 31st

Located on the third floor of THEBlvd, Tin Roof is hosting a prom-style NYE party this year. Dance in a brand new year wearing your finest attire while enjoying three live bands, tasty appetizers and a champagne toast at midnight. The Great Reset starts the party, performing at 5:30 p.m. At 9:30 p.m., DJ A.M.P and The Mexicants will perform. VIP tickets are available for advance purchase starting at $30 and include a “skip the line” pass.

7| New Year’s Eve Fireworks | Varies | Dec. 31st

While you won’t be able to find a New Year’s Eve fireworks display directly on the Boardwalk this year, there are several other nearby locations along the Grand Strand that will be hosting celebratory fireworks. Here are their locations:

  • Barefoot Landing – 4898 Hwy 17 S, North Myrtle Beach – 7:00 p.m.
  • Broadway at the Beach – 1325 Celebrity Cir, Myrtle Beach – 8:00 p.m.
  • The Market Common – 4017 Deville St, Myrtle Beach – Midnight
